April…Sheesh, forget about it!

Saturday Evening, 10:43pm…

This is a false start, I’ll write this post properly tomorrow morning. This is merely me setting myself a reminder to do so when I flip open the Mac Book at some ungodly early hour, with the admirable intention of doing below ground setting out drawings, or slab co-ordination drawings or something. I find that leaving obvious reminders of things I need to is becoming a more regular occurrence in my life. Age mixing nicely with senility

Sunday Morning, 6:51am…

This time a week ago, I was preparing to run the London Marathon. Never again I thought after I’d crossed the line in 4 hours 32 minutes, that’s that ticked off the bucket list. However, the ballot for 2014 opens tomorrow, and I shall indeed be throwing my name into the ring once again! I’ve mentioned this a few times, but with good reason. Less than four years ago, I weighed about fifteen and a half stone, smoked heavily, drank heavily, had a poor diet and did no exercise. A week ago, I crossed the finish line of my first marathon, having given up smoking three and a half years ago, been teetotal since January 2011, lost nearly 4 stone in the process, and returned to a level of fitness that allowed me to run 26.2 miles without stopping, thanks to cycling, running, and discipline. So yes, I’m proud of what I’ve achieved. Here I am about 5 minutes after having finished the marathon (it’s a proof shot robbed from the website, they’re expensive to buy!).

Again, I would sincerely thank everybody for their support, and thank the kind ladies who allowed me to borrow their phones after the race in order to make contact with the family again, as mine had run out of charge at the 20 mile mark! The sponsorship is going well, I’m up to £471 as of this morning, and there’s still plenty of time to donate! You can do so here, it’s all in aid of the MS Society.

Anyway, April! Forget about it! Literally! I think I’ve posted a few times this month, but wow it’s been busy. We started with the youngest son‘s 7th birthday Birthday, a day out at Water World in Stoke, and a bank holiday day out at Waddeston Manor with family friends.  My elder brother visited us from Plymouth, there was the Marathon and a weekend in London, not to mention ongoing work related trips to Manchester, entertaining family at our place, Mum and Dad paying a brief visit, to be followed up by another one next weekend, new guitar students, party invites (for us, not the kids this time!), and other projects that keep rumbling away in the background! The wife and I have been invited to two birthday parties next weekend, one on Saturday night, one on Sunday night, which is cool as it’s a bank holiday! Mrs Morrissey is already stressing about the dent this wil cause to her sleep however, and as usual, I’ve got nothing to wear!

We had a brief glimpse of a warm spring this week, needless to say the short skirts appeared almost instantaneously (not on me I should add), and now we’re all back to jumpers and jackets again! I’m sure we’ll get there, these things take time! Have a good one!
